Kayce has been with us since October 2016. She grew up in a little place called Kibbee, GA right outside of Vidalia, GA. She moved to Dublin, GA, and started working at Shamrock Pet Care in 2008, where she found out her passion was to help animals and their owners. She met her husband in Dublin, GA and they moved to Jacksonville, FL because her husband accepted a position at Memorial Hospital of Jacksonville. Kayce has always loved animals since she was a young child, growing up she was always feeding stray cats and dogs. She likes spending time with her family, reading, watching tv, walking, hanging out with friends, being in nature, listening to music, and pre-COVID, she enjoyed going on cruises with her husband. She has 3 cats; Mizfit, Happy, and Silas. She also has a Boston Terrier named Precious.
Mary moved to Jacksonville in 2007 from a small town called Greenville, Alabama and started working here. She enjoys taking care of animals and making sure they look their very best. Lauren has been with us since February 2020. She was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. She is very passionate about working with animals and really thrives in her role providing excellent care to the animals in her care. She prefers animal medicine compared to human because of how hands-on it is, her days are never dull. Lauren is very go with the flow person and enjoys traveling and going to concerts when she can. She has a few furry loves of her own Colt, an American Bulldog/Sheltie mix, Miles, a deaf Pit Bull/Boxer mix, and Kyle, an Australian Shepherd/St. Bernard mix.
Katie joined us in September, 2020. She was born and raised in Orange Park, Fl. After graduating from Ridgeview High School with her International Baccalaureate Diploma, she moved to Tampa, FL where she attended the University of South Florida. She graduated from USF in the Spring of 2019 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Integrative Animal Biology and minor in Public Health Infectious Disease Control. She recently moved back home and is taking classes through St. Petersburg College to become a CVT. Although this is the direction life has taken her now, she aspires to one day attend veterinary school and become a veterinarian.
One of Katie’s favorite things about working with animals is the everyday challenges and the opportunity that it provides to learn something new each and every day. Her passion for veterinary medicine has been around since she was a little girl, but it grew even more after her family’s dog Baxley was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. She wanted to have the opportunity to help animals like Baxley. This was the time that Katie’s family met Dr. Ferrin and she provided her the first true introduction into the field of veterinarian medicine by allowing her to shadow her and Dr. Stacey. Since then they have become wonderful mentors to Katie as she continues her journey into the world of veterinary medicine.
She knew she was in the right profession when she took some time in her last year in Tampa to volunteer at the Florida Aquarium and Home Sweet Home Animal Rescue of Tampa Bay. Katie’s experiences working with the people and animals at these organizations revealed to her that while she truly enjoyed seeing the husbandry side of things, veterinary medicine was where her true interests reside and is where she is meant to be.
In her free time Katie enjoys working and going on adventures with her rescued blue Pitbull, Koda. Due to his unknown past history he has been a welcome challenge to work with and has taught her so much about working with fearful dogs. She also loves the arts and nature. These have always been important aspects of her life. While attending the University of South Florida she was a member of the Tenor Saxophone section in the Herd of Thunder Marching Band. She is also a brother of Kappa Kappa Psi national honorary band service fraternity.
Laura started with us as a kennel technician and graduated as a veterinary assistant. She enjoys taking care of all the pets that come in, to help them look and feel their best. She is the proud owner of two black cats, Clementine and Morgan, which are her babies. Whenever she gets the chance, she loves to foster kittens and find them a fur-ever home.
