Veterinary Technician

About the Role
Miramar Animal Hospital is a fast moving three doctor practice looking to hire an experienced, highly motivated veterinary technician (full-time). We are seeking an individual who is looking to grow and expand their knowledge in the veterinary field as well as in the practice. Someone who is reliable, has good communication skills, willingness to adapt to a new environment, and a good attitude in the workplace is the ideal candidate.
Technicians work hands on with the doctors throughout each patient's visit and are expected to use their experience and knowledge to contribute to the team. You will also take direction from the doctor and work together to get the different tasks competed in a timely manner. Being able to work independently to meet each patient's needs is a must as well.
Technician Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Loading exam rooms and getting thorough histories during sick and wellness visits.
- Client education and willingness to answer any questions as well as go over different procedures or treatments being performed.
- Phlebotomy.
- Restraint.
- Obtaining Digital Radiographs.
- Filling medications and having a knowledge base of what each medication does and why it is being prescribed.
- IV catheter placement.
- Surgical and Anesthesia monitoring.
- Experience with performing dentals and taking dental radiographs.
- Ability to read fecal floats, ear cytologys, and urinalysis.
- Running in-house bloodwork.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/ GED
- 2 years’ experience as a Veterinary Technician
- Experience with Avimark preferred
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- Capable of lifting up to 50lbs
- Must be able to work rotating weekends/holidays
- Sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment
